Environmental Policy

Dresser-Rand Guascor environmental commitment is present in all activities and steps developed during the planning, execution, installation and operation of a business enterprise. The Environment Division technical team has for mission:

• control  potentially polluting activities 
• follow the environmental laws in force
• environment preservation and maintenance of natural sources existing at the enterprises surroundings
• avoid environmental  impacts ambientais to humans and nature
• provide environmental education in order to improve the communities’ life quality where D-R Guascor acts.

D-R Guascor has been awarded with significant prizes for its environmentally responsible behavior. It is the first Brazilian company to be awarded by ANEEL (National Agency for Electric Power) for the reduction of use of oil at the diesel plants, due to the application of innovating technologies with reduced environmental impact. The Aneel Prize has already been awarded four times: in the year of 2005, (Feijó and Manoel Urbano pants, in Acre) 2007, (Oriximiná plant, in Pará) and in 2009, (Buritis plant, in Rondônia).

Green Plants 

Using own advanced technologies, makes it possible to the D-R Guascor to install and operate the plants with reduced environmental impact. All plants have the original vegetation preserved and gardening or vegetable garden projects under the care of collaborators themselves and with participation of the community that also share the crop.

Environmental Agents

D-R Guascor has developed and implanted an environmental agent’s capacitating method dedicated to local habitants.  The action includes elaboration and free distribution of didactic material, debates and expository classes which take place at the plants premises and schools.  This initiative, which in 2005 was awarded with the Coge Foundation Prize (Company Mangement Commitee), is still being developed at other places where D-R Guascor acts.
