Hydroelectric power plants

Dresser-Rand Guascor has expertise in carrying out studies on hydraulic potential for electric energy generation and repowering of existing Small Hydroelectric Plants (SHPs), with a capacity of up to 30MW and minimal environmental impact, in addition to developing engineering projects, environmental licenses, implementation, commissioning and start up.

The Furnas do Segredo Small Hydroelectric Plant, which is located in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, was built and has been operated by the company since 2005. With a capacity of 9.8MW, it was one of the first Brazilian SHPs to have a CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) project approved under the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) to receive carbon credits.
